Well I can't believe it! I sat down at the computer to post a couple of entries (3 if I was REALLY ambitious) for some online challenges, and in my typical fashion, I got distracted and began blog hopping from my Blogger list. (I spread two truck loads of mulch today while kids were in school and Hubby was at work, so I've been looking for excuses to sit down!). Anyway, one thing lead to another and I wound up back on the PaperCrafts blog and the results of the 2013 Stamping Royalty contest. I remembered there was still one category I had not looked for the revealed winners (sometimes I recognize the names of the gals from blog land or PaperCrafts pages. I read ALOT.). I stumbled across the blog post for Honorable Mentions, which I didn't really even realize were chosen, and lo' and behold, I saw my own name and then my card!!!!
That's right! I know - I can't believe it either! I am the Honorable Mention for the Seasons Greetings 2013 Stamping Royalty contest!!!! Wow.
For fun, they are holding a vote to pick a winner from the 5 Honorable Mentions, one from each category. The categories are: Love, Hello/Thinking of You, Season's Greetings, Birthday, and Thank You. The winner of the voting gets the same prize package as the Royalty Finalists. Who wouldn't want that?!
Please feel free to take a peek at the blog entry, my card, and cast a vote!!! Instructions are included within the blog post. Voting is open until Thursday, May 2nd.

Play Date #179
I'm back with another quick post! Trying to squeeze in pix of my activities this morning in my crafty space before I get home with the kids and it all breaks loose around here! :) It will go from quiet (and almost mesmerizing - I get sleepy sitting here now!) to NOT so quiet and NOT so mesmerizing! It's comical some days.
I love the fun happy spring colors from Play Date this week.
Here is my card using these colors (CTMH: Pear, Cotton Candy, and Sunset):

I stamped the stripes using my stamp set held over from my CTMH "Wonderland" kit. I die cut the stars in matching paper and added the buttons and twine. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches "Sentiment Sampler".

Freshly Made Sketches #83
Good afternoon!
I'm here to post a couple of cards quickly before I leave to pick up the little piglets from school. They will be so glad it's Friday and get to "stay up late" tonight. :)
I spent some time playing this morning in my crafty space enjoying a beautiful Friday myself.
Here is the Freshly Made challenge for this week:
Here is my card using the sketch -- I opted to make a tag for my "accent panel" to shake things up a bit.
I loved the "natural" look with the accent pieces backed by the Kraft card base. I embossed the Sweet Leaf cardstock panel with my Cuttlebug, stamped the Botanical Silhouettes flowers in Tulip and Sweet Leaf and the sentiment in Cocoa.
It was the most fun. (And, I'm still loving the embossing these days!)

Colour Q #186 and Simon Says Challenge
Good morning!
I hope everyone is enjoying beautiful weather as we are here in TN. It's turned off a little chilly, but the sun is shining so beautifully, we can't help but feel blessed this morning! (Can you tell it was rainy and yucky yesterday? I wouldn't complain about freezing temps today as long as we could see Mr. Sun! Thank the Good Lord for sunshine!!!)
I'm popping in to post a card I made earlier this week for Colour Q colors.
They are such fun happy colors. I knew it would be perfect for a floral stamp set. I used mine from my "Pemberly" workshop kit.

My CTMH colors are Pear, Sunset, Cotton Candy, and Cashmere (inking edges). I layered my stamped panel over a piece of patterned paper from a DCWV 6x6 stack I have. And the card base is Kraft cardstock (FAVORITE!).
My sentiment stamp is from Verve Stamps.
I am also entering this card into this week's Simon Says Stamp "Anything Goes" Challenge.

Dynamic Duos #49
Hello there!
I'm cheating with one more quick post right before bed. I was able to steal some crafty time today in my room. After a couple of days of strenuous yard work, I really didn't care if I did anything else today! :) I was going to craft or NOTHING!
Here are the Dynamic Duos colors:
This isn't a direction I would normally take these colors, but I kind of got a kick out of it - being different. (Even though the reason for the card is a sad occasion. :( )

Unfortunately, I need this card for a dear, dear friend.
I embossed my black cardstock in the Cuttlebug and then lightly sanded it. The striped paper is from the CTMH "Bliss" paper packet. I really like how the colors look once I backed everything with the Kraft card base. It was amazing how much it softened everything! It was just looking so harsh before I changed the background from white.

Play Date #178 - Revisited
Hello!
I'm doing a "double dip" tonight. (That's for you Gina!)
I've already made a card for Play Date, but I got a kick out of the colors and today ran across this gray mesh flower hanging out with the rest of my stash from my "Bliss" days. (CTMH) I told myself I needed to use those flowers up and realized I could squeeze it in with Play Date!
So here I am being prudent (for me) and getting my post in before I hit the hay! Planned to go to bed early tonight, but like my good plans go most of the time - It ain't happening.
Here are the fun colors:
Here is my card using my little mesh flower that I've always loved:

I stamped the flourishes from my "Love Life" set in Sunny Yellow and the sentiment from "Card Chatter - Sympathy" in Watermelon. I also added the gray pearls. Everything is CTMH with the exception of the white cardstock from PTI.

Retro Sketches #60
I've got one more quick post - this one for Retro Sketches.
I've made this card for a gift set I'm using and want several encouragement/hello cards for the set.
Here is this week's sketch:
And my card with this sketch, resurrecting some old "Wings" goodies:

Play Date Cafe #178
Hello -
I'm back with another semi-whiny post! :) I'm having one of those days where I feel that I have time to play in my crafty space, but once I get there I struggle with creativity levels. I HATE when that happens. I'm thinking it could have something to do with staying up til midnight last night, but I hate to jump to conclusions. After all, I do great on not enough sleep. (You probably couldn't hear the sarcasm in that statement. -- I'm like a toddler who misses a nap - it's not pretty.)
I have managed to make three cards this morning, two of which I'm pretty happy with. One for Play Date.
These colors looked so fun and I did have fun just playing around. I had a tiny idea how I wanted my card to go, but mostly I just messed around layering and adding stuff willy-nilly. My rule for myself is to have fun. If I'm not enjoying myself, I have to leave my room. (Hence, I'm in here blogging now rather than staring at my treasured possessions getting frustrated with lack of direction!)
Here is my little experiment from "play time":

Here is my little experiment from "play time":
I partially embossed the accent panel using a Tim Holtz/Sizzix Bubble Wrap embossing folder. I've used it the most in the last couple of days, partially b/c it's been on top (I know! LAZY) and mostly b/c I like the distressed look and "lack of a pattern". Not as perfect.
I used washi tape (pink chevrons), a photo corner punch on Honey cardstock, and Grey Wool stamped harlequins and paint splatters. -- just playing around.

Dynamic Duos #48 and H2H Challenge - Buttoned Up
What fun! Two challenge posts in two days. May not be back in the saddle all the way, but definitely close! Just so busy - wow. I think I could take a nap now. House is quiet, kids are playing across the street, tons to do, but I'm sitting here blogging anyway. ; )
I LOVED the Dynamic Duos colors this week. Light blue and orange. I've said it once, I'll say it again - this is the next best thing to light blue and red!
I used Kraft cardstock from PTI for my base. (A favorite of mine) I love the rustic feel from these colors in the wooden buttons and the kraft together. I just loved how this turned out!

The buttons were a fun little find from Michael's. The paper behind the punched circles is Sunset patterned paper from my Hooligans collection (CTMH) and the blue is a scrap piece left over from My Mind's Eye Abbey Road collection. I stamped the sentiment from PTI's Think Big Favorites #16 Mini set using Sunset ink.
I am also entering this card into the H2H Challenge this week which is to use buttons!

CQC #184
Good evening!
I didn't get my quick computer time in this afternoon like I'd planned, so I'm trying to squeeze in a quick post while kids are taking showers. HA! Don't we become master clock manipulators once kids are in the picture? Wow. Sometimes it seems so hard to do anything! :)
I played around with a couple of projects earlier today and made this card to go along with the Colour Q challenge.

I played around with a couple of projects earlier today and made this card to go along with the Colour Q challenge.
This card was fun because I basically put it together with items that were laying on my desk. You know the pieces you've cut out for a project and it didn't quite work out, but you can't bear to throw it away? That could just be me with my unhealthy aversion to wasting anything. I think I'm turning into my Dad! :) (Who banned me from throwing away any jar of Miracle Whip as a pre-teen because he swore he could get two more sandwiches worth of mayo out of the jar that I had thrown away.) ... good memories!
The black border, the embossed vellum, the gray card base and the label I stamped my sentiment on were all piled up in front of me on my desk. It was exciting not only because I liked how it all came together, but because it's now out of my way. Two birds, as they say....
The stamp is "Heartfelt Phrases" from Verve Stamps; the heart is cut and stamped from my CTMH Art Philosophy Collection; Pink Glitter Gems and gray button are CTMH; and the embossing folder is "Julie's Garden" from Cuttlebug.

Play Date Cafe Challenge #177
I love the "Nautical Breezes" color challenge at Play Date this week! If there's any combination I like better than red and blue, it's probably red and orange. I like to get wild and wooly every now and again and change things up a bit. I'm nothing if I'm not versatile.
This photo just screams happy and summer to me.
I used some of my long-forgotten pearl paint tinted with Crystal Blue re-inker to make this card.
The orange dots are stamped from my "Grunge" set by Skipping Stones Design (sentiment also). The light blue epoxy dots are from My Mind's Eye. (Another fun Michael's find!)

Colour Q #183
I'm happy to see that I've played along with Colour Q two weeks in a row. :) A "new" old record. Or an old new record? Something like that.
Nonetheless, I'm promising myself I'll get back into the challenge groove soon.
I loved these spring colors when I viewed all of the other cards. But when I sat down to use them, it was harder than I thought!
They are such happy fun colors - easy to think of spring and smile!

I used up some CTMH scrap from "Grace" and "Caboodle" paper kits. Those both go WAAAAY back! My stamp set is from Skipping Stones Designs.
