Play Date Cafe #183

Happy Summer! ... With Memorial Day behind us, school officially out, and the kids already saying they "don't know what to do", it's here. Oh, special times, special times. (Egads!)

I loved the Play Date Colors this week,

And used these to make a Congratulations card for Graduation, making it happy and fun. No school colors this time.

I grabbed paper scraps from my Superhero, Dotty for You, and Lucy kits. I used my new Frame Flair stamp set to stamp on the coordinating die-cut shape. The star and cute banners were stamped with the Kudos stamp set from the Artiste Cricut cartrdige collection. (All CTMH). The sentiment is PTI, Signature Greetings,  and the little banner at the top of the card is from my Technique Tuesday, Turn 29 set. The ink colors are Honey, Topiary, and Moonstruck. I also added buttons from my own stash and tied them with a blue bakers twine.

Paper Players Challenge #146

Good evening once more!
I'm pretty sure I will make this my last post of the day. I believe I've set a personal record. ; )  But being caught up is a nice feeling.

My last card I wish to share is for the Paper Players Clean & Simple Masculine Challenge this week.

I robbed some of my husband's very own "stash" (Don't let them act like they don't have one, too!) and pulled out some hardware and electrical tape. I love how this one turned out paired with the Kraft cardstock and white and black pigment inks.

This one became even more special today b/c it is actually being used! I got it in the mail today to encourage a young man we know about to go through a Bone Marrow Transplant. I hope it will make him smile, if only for a moment.

The circles and other intresting stamps are actually the heads of nails, screws, and bolts that I dabbed in my white pigment ink and "stamped" with onto my card. It was a lot of fun to play around with what type of images I could create using the different pieces. The washers and nut are real and glued onto my card over the strips of black electrical tape. The sentiment is from Verve stamps and the black twine is The Twinery.

CASual Friday Challenge #101

Good afternoon,

I'm back stealing some posting time before the piglets run in the front door screamin' and hollerin' and starving to death for supper. The calm before the storm, so to speak.

I crafted with some of my coveted new "Dream Pop" special paper from CTMH this weekend while playing along with the CASual Friday Challenge to stamp on patterned paper.

cfc101

I kept it simple with the paper strips, black embossed sentiment from the "Card Chatter - Birthday" stamp set, a few sequins, and, of course, a twine bow. No project is complete without twine. It's just not right.

Thank you for stopping by to visit! Hope you are having a great start to your week! Pin It

Fusion Challenge #7

Hello,
Still on a roll with my blog posts this morning. I am actually linking up with this week's Fusion Challenge! I've played along at least once, but, of course, fooled around and missed a linky deadline. (I know - surprise of the century.)

I've been loving these sketches and this week I had fun playing around with a "collage-y" style for a girl's graduation gift.

I die-cut the sentiment and flower using my CTMH Artiste Cricut cartridge, in Honey and Watermelon cardstock. I adhered my strips of fun washi tape then layered the die cut pieces, baker's twine, and stamped the secondary sentiment from PaperSmooches Sentiment Sampler.

CAS(E) This Sketch #28

I loved the sketch over at CAS(E) This Sketch this week! But, then again, I usually do. A recently converted fan of the CAS, I try to take on the challenge most weeks. Even if I can't post and enter the linky fun.

Here is my card using the Paper Smooches Cyber Cafe stamp set. I thought it was cute but my Mom and The Hubs didn't get it, so maybe I'm the only one liking it! Ha ha! Entirely possible.

I used Chocolate ink for the coffee beans and coffee ring stains. The sentiment is stamped in Cocoa so that it would be darker on the Kraft cardstock. I also embossed the white accent piece with my Linen and Canvas Impression Plate before adhering to the card base.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope everyone's week is off to a fabulous start.

CASual Friday Challenge #100

Well, the hard work of the weekend is over =) and I was able to relax a little today! Ha ha. After all the yardwork, housework, and kids underfoot while the husband is at work, a Monday feels a little different than it used to.

Unfortunately, after all the outside work, I've got a touch of the crud and I haven't felt like doing much today. So, that translated to getting a little quiet time in my crafty space with the Season Finale of Revenge! (I'm surprised I made anything during those riveting 2 hours!)

I wanted to play along with CASual Friday this time and I was determined. I'm frequently marking the challenges and thinking of things to make for each one that inspires me, but alot of times I don't make it back before for the deadline. So with a 2-weeker at CFC, there was no excuse this time.

Here is my CAS card using Polka Dots, Kraft paper, and a Die Cut label (top row):

The darling alpha stamp set is CTMH, as well as the ink colors, Lagoon, Sunflower, Topiary, Sunset, and Tulip.

PDCC #181 and Mother's Day

As promised I'm catching up on a few blog posts this morning!

This one for the Play Date Cafe inspired color challenge.

I was excited for this one after I found some paper I'd bought my daughter and she decided to regift back to me. :) After I remembered the stack she left me, I flipped through and stumbled upon the denim patterned paper. I thought it looked so cute with these scattered flowers.

The flowers are from PTI's Rosie Posie stamp set in CTMH colors of Creme Brulee and Smoothie. I added the Verve stamps sentiment (a Plain Jane mini stamp) and a few sequins and this one was finished quickly. The best kind! :)

Freshly Made Sketch #85

Good morning!

We are hoping to dry off here in TN. We've had rain, rain and more rain. It's good for the grass, but egads. Enough already. We have yet to be able to plant our garden. But it looks like Mr. Golden Sun is about to come out to play. Yay!

I'm going to pop in a do several quick posts and get back to work. The windows are up, I can hear my kiddos playing outside, and the kitty cats are keeping me company. A perfect morning!

This week, I made a set of cards at my sisters request  for her to gift to her mother-in-law. She fell in love with my new Chicken Wire Embossing Folder from Cuttlebug. (As did I. But what's new? I love everything.) And that folder, in conjunction with my PTI "On the Farm" stamp set and CTMH "Country-Born" stamp set, just put her into a tailspin. (Her in-laws are life-long farmers coming from a long line of farmers.)

The first one I made for her using the Freshly Made Sketch inspiration.

Here is my card using the elements I mentioned:

CTMH colors used are Honey, Topiary, and Chocholate. Kraft cardstock and jute button twine from PTI . After embossing the cardstock with the chicken wire, I gently swiped the chocolate ink pad against the raised surfaces to give it more definition. (I had done this on a previous card that sister and the M-I-L used for a baby shower and they loved it.)

Friday Mashup #108

I remembered I had one more card that I had not shared. I'm trying to keep myself busy in a central location of the house to monitor children this afternoon and posting cards seems a great activity.

My sister requested a graduation card for one of her nieces and I used the "embossing" inspiration from Friday Mashup to fulfill her request.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project for "Graduation".
  2. Create a project with "any kind of Embossing".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project with "Embossing for Graduation".

Here is my card for her request, AND, I might add, in the appropriate school colors! =)

I embossed my background panel with the Linen Impression Plate from PTI. My colors are Dutch Blue and Honey, the same colors as my Alma Mater where the graduate attends. The stamps are from one of my Artiste Cricut Cartridge companion stamp sets. The white seam binding ribbon is also CTMH.

Seize the Birthday #16

Hello!

I'm popping in while there is peace in the house (currently infiltrated with 7 children and only 2 are mine!) and everyone is playing nicely. I like it when we play nicely. I don't like it when we don't. But I think I've made my feelings on the subject plain around here. Of COURSE, as any mother knows, even knowing how mom feels about things, doesn't always provide enough of a deterrent! Sigghh. Oh well!

I have a card to share with you that I made for the Seize the Birthday sketch challenge.

I liked the simplicity of it - you can always do so many things with this type sketch!

Here is my card using the sketch as inspiration:

I thought this patterned paper was so pretty. It came from a 6x6 pad by Authentique. I combined the enamel dots from My Mind's Eye and Aqua Mist satin ribbon from PTI. I loved the aqua blue with this muted red shade. The stamp and die set is from PTI's "Boutique Borders" using Cocoa and Tulip ink by CTMH. Button is American Crafts (Amy Tangerine) and twine is PTI.

CASE This Sketch #26

Hello there!
I'm popping in to share a quick post of a couple cards that I made for my sister at her request. The first one is a card she needed for a baby gift. She requested yellow, red, and chicken wire. :) She made burp cloths and bibs using these colors and appliqued chicks so she wanted her card to coordinate.

I'm using the CASE This Sketch sketch. (I know I just typed sketch twice. I think it works.)

Here is the card with the requested elements:

I embossed the chicken wire using my Cuttlebug and then gently rubbed my Chocolate ink pad over the raised images. I die cut the chicken from my cardstock accent panel and stamped the sentiment from the PTI "On the Farm" stampset. My yellow cardstock panel is embossed using the PTI Canvas impression plate.

Dynamic Duos #50

Hello again!

I'm back for another quick post - just gave the children the infamous "5 Minute Warning" and we all have to go inside. Playtime will be over. BOO!

I wanted to get my post up for this week's Dynamic Duo's Challenge. This weeks colors are monochromatic, pink and coral.

For CTMH-land colors, I used Smoothie cardstock and Blush ink with the PaperSmooches CyberCafe stamp set. As a recently reformed coffee addict, I still love all things coffee (ESPECIALLY my new quart of coffee flavored gelato!) and this stamp set caught my eye as a great impulse buy with a gift card balance.

Here is my card:

It needed a little "umph" after I had it assembled, so I added the Prisma Glitter. It was kinda fun to resurrect. Sadly, that poor bottle hadn't seen the light of day in quite some time. I thought it was a great touch to finish off the card.

Colour Q #187

Good evening!

I am happy to say I am enjoying a quiet sit-down on my back patio in the fresh evening air. It's so beautiful, I'm determined not to let anything bother me, even the gnats buzzing around me - incessantly -- and they keep tickling my arm -- and sometimes they just flat gross me out.    BUT, it's beautiful outside and I'm sitting down. After two days of spreading mulch while the kids were in school, I'm tired as a woman. I did sneak a little crafty time in this afternoon while the kids were playing and before Hubby got home from work. I went to my desk and saw the reminders I'd left myself for my ideas related to this week's Colour Q colors, but after little deliberation I completely changed my mind.

I kept debating the purchase of the Rosie Posie stamp set from PTI after falling in love with the floral images on so many pretty blog posts I've visited. I wasn't wild about the hexagons that were included and it seemed "expensive" (for me) not to like all  the stamps in the set. (I've said it once, I'll say it again. It's not easy being a tightwad AND a papercrafter! It's like two facets of my inner self working against each other. I argue with myself!) However, I just kept seeing those roses and flowers stamped up so beautifully on fellow crafters cards and decided to throw caution to the wind.

And, wouldn't you know it - I've already used the hexagons more than the flowers from this set? It's turning out to be my favorite part. So, as the score goes: Crafty Inner Self - 1; Tightwad Inner Self - 0.   (Mind you, that is not a lifetime cumulative total.)

Supply List
Cardstock: White (PaperTrey Ink), Navy Blue (Recollections - Michaels)
Stamps: Rosie Posie (PaperTrey Ink), Hexagons (Hero Arts)
Dye Ink: Outdoor Denim, Indian Corn Blue, Lilac Mist, Blush (CTMH)
Other: Outdoor Denim Chevron Ribbon (CTMH), buttons (from my mother-in-laws enormous stash!), sequins

I had a lot of fun with this one because it felt a little "different" than my usual pieces. I need a little more practice lining up the "inside" stamps, but I think it's working okay for this card.

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit! Pin It
