Moxie Fab World - Stickers & Tape Challenge

Oh my poor little neglected blog! I've let it slip this past week (or so). Time just gets away from me. I'm quite guitly of letting it happen, too. Partially, becuase I'm finding in my "old age" that I require more sleep than I used to. I always had to make sure I got adequate sleep, but now my definition of adequate has increased. It's the pits! It's hard to do everything I want to do AND sleep! :)

I'm sharing a card I made, inspired by the Moxie Fab World's Stickers & Tape Challenge:

This one is simple -- I layered pieces of washi tape/decorative tape over two chipboard monogram letters that I've had in my stash for eons. I love the colorful "hi" and to keep it from being too busy, I backed it only with a piece of woodgrain paper from the Miss Caroline's collection, My Mind's Eye. I have used almost every bit of that piece. I love the rustic, yet fun look of the wood covered in doilies.

As usual, I have planned too many little jobs for myself today, so I'm off to tackle the next one now that I've finished my salad! :)

CASual Friday #114 - Revisted

I have actually been making multiple school-themed cards this week and sharing them with the CASual Friday blog challenge. I'm attempting to make a little gift collection for a friend from church who is a teacher. Poor thing is working her can off getting her year started and I wanted to give her a "cheer up" gift.

Here is one of my "favorite" ones from the little set I'm attempting to create. (I'm not sure if two qualifies as a set YET.) The "set" is still a work in progress!

I was too lazy to white emboss the stamping on my black textured cardstock (It really does do great for the chalkboard look. I've read that on someone's blog somewhere -- textured black carstock!) I stamped the numbers up the side and the sentiment in white pigment ink a couple of times to make it darker and not panicking when they didn't line up to make the shadowy look that is so cool with the chalboarding right now. I also swiped the ink pad over the cardstock randomly to create the smeared/erased chalk look. I've not tried that yet (again read it on a blog somewhere) and I was tickled with the results. I LERVE learning new tricks from fellow crafters.

I stamped and trimmed the apple and bus images from my CTMH School Is Here set. Matted everything on paper from the DCWV Everyday 6x6 stack school themed paper and finished it off with red twine from Doodlebug Design.

Paper Players #162

This week's Paper Players challenge is a color challenge. I struggle with color challenges; of course, with my mojo lately, I've struggled with most challenges. HA!

But these colors are so pretty! I wanted to try and something did finally pop in my head. These colors reminded me immediately of the Wings kit CTMH had a while back (don't tell me how long ago). It's hard to believe, but I don't have any of that left.

Here is my card using CTMH colors of Black, Juniper, and Vineyard Berry. (as close as I could get...)

I stamped the border pattern in Vineyard Berry ink using my PTI stamp set "Autumn Pattern Pieces" (so versatile) and the sentiment from PTI's "Bigger Blooms" stamp set. I matted that panel in black cardstock and used black pearls and black organdy ribbon to "tie" it all together. SNORT. (I know -- that was so wrong.)

CASual Friday #114

Back to School! I must admit I've seem to become a sucker for the school themed products. Back to School time is so exciting, even though it seems to wear off within a week and we all get so TIRED! Mommy included. Wow. I don't remember actually being a student wearing me out the way being the mother of a couple of students does. Please don't say it's because I'm getting old(er). That seems to be the issue with everything these days! I want new reasons; I'm finished with that one!

Back to School is the theme at CASual Friday:

This card is actually one of several I've made with this theme in mind. I have a friend who's a teacher and I've been wanting to surprise her with a sweet set of notecards. (Never mind we've been back in school for 5 weeks. Egads. I let my good ideas slip behind me way too quickly.)

I actually had coordinated effort from three different stamp sets for this one, even though it is so simple. The faint background is stamped in Latte pigment ink (Amuse Studio) using the PTI Autumn Pattern Pieces stamp set. I used apples from the CTMH School Is Here stamp set (masking and multiple stamping for different ink colors) and the sentiment I stamped from Paper Smooches Sentiment sampler. I just threw a little bling (Doodlebug Design, actually a Christmas set!) and left it alone. (Even though Big Daddy made fun of my scattered "dots", I like them that way and I'm not moving them. He has "NO EYE FOR FASHION!", for my fellow Seinfeld die-hards.)

Friday Mashup #126

I felt like I HAD to play along with the Friday Mashup challenge this week since it involved Washi Tape. {giggle} I've decided everything should be adhesive like washi tape. We can just tear some off and stick it to our cards. It's too easy - I love it.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project with "Washi Tape."
  2. Create a "set of 3x3 Quick Note Cards."
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Set of 3x3 Note Cards using some Washi Tape".
I used strips from different sets to make different color variations of the same card four times.

This last one is my favorite, almost monochromatic with it's aqua blues and green colors.

I used my PTI Boutique Borders: Birthday for the die cut and stamped sentiment. Easy Peasy set.

Seize the Sketch #3

Well I'm blogging this afternoon with One Direction blaring in the background! :) The Piglets have taken to after school relaxation playing Minekraft on the Xbox while they have music playing through the speakers. It's almost always One Direction. (I've even seen their movie. I can't believe it myself.) Thank goodness they have decent music. Otherwise, I'd have to put the kibash on that, and no one wants Mommy "kibashing" anything around here.

I have a card I made using the current sketch from Seize The Sketch.

Here is my card using Watermelon Carstock (CTMH), Kraft cardstock (PTI), and Family Stories Decorative Tape (Teresa Collins):

I started out stamping hexagons and I just couldn't get happy with it. After that, I decided I didn't want to take the sketch so literally - but still wanted to play because I like it. The sentiment strip is one I had leftover on my desk because I couldn't bear to throw it away (from CTMH Clementine WOTG kit).  I just threw a few dots on to give it some texture and called it a day!

Colour Q #205

Well, MOMMY stayed up too late reading a book last night and now she's quite tired. (I'm catching up on my Lisa Scottoline legal thrillers - it's hard to put them down!) My couch is calling my name so my post will be short and sweet this morning!

I have a card to share that I made based on Colour Q challenge for this past week.

I used decorative tape from My Mind's Eye Cut and Paste collection, Rosie Posie stamp sets and dies from PTI, and sentiment from Mum's The Word PTI stamp set. My flowers are stamped in Blush ink with Vineyard Berry accent stamping. I also added the Color Ready Seam Binding (CTMH) bow just because it needed a little something extra.

Tuesday Trigger: Honoring Ombre

Happy Weekend --
Hope everyone is enjoying some relaxing time at home. Big Daddy had to work today, so it was just the kids and me. I spend some krafty time in my room since I didn't feel like doing much of anything! :)

First I'm sharing this card I've made to enter in the Tuesday Trigger: Honoring Ombre over at Moxie Fab World:

My card uses the fun geometric shapes from The Alley Way Stamps, Pillow Talk set. In the fun "nautical" colors, blue, red, and white. It kind of turned out that way by accident, but I loved the results. It's bright and happy!

I stamped the image three different times (in Pacifica ink) , never stopping to reink the stamp. The banner was die cut using my Artiste Cricut Cartridge in Tulip cardstock and then the sentiment white embossed. (From Card Chatter - Sympathy stamp set, CTMH). After matting my accent panel in matching Pacifica cardstock and attaching, I used foam tape to pop up the sentiment banner, and embellished with clear bling. It's one of my recent favorites, even though it's pretty simple.

Freshly Made Sketches #101

Happy Holiday Weekend --
I trust everyone is enjoying an extra day off, and with any luck, a little extra time with family. My house has quieted down for a few moments so I'm here to quickly share a card I made last week for the Freshly Made Sketch.

I pulled out some paper's left from my bargain find of My Mind's Eye Miss Caroline collection. I've decided I love the wood panel paper with the white doilies. (When I first bought the package, I wasn't all that impressed with this piece.)

And, I love how the other colors, used in my banners, work with the wood. It keeps the rustic feel while giving it some color yet.

I die cut the word bubble and stamped it in (PTI) Chartruese ink using my stamp set from the (CTMH) Sarita kit. The butterfly is stamped in gray ink on gray cardstock and trimmed before attaching. It was from the (CTMH) It's Your Day stamp set. I added the Studio Calico silver sequins to spruce it up, but think the color keeps it rustic and not too "fussy".  :)
