Colour Q #247 and Seize the Sketch #23

Hi there!

I've been having trouble making it to the keyboard these past few days. I have some other cards to share that I made for challenges and missed the deadline. I haven't done that in a long time! But the weekend was busy with some DIY projects around the house and we are still going strong today.(Although we had to stop and take a break for more supplies and groceries this afternoon and I'm afraid it will be hard to start back up! =D )

I have a card I made in a crafty session last week using Colour Q colors and inspired by the layout over at Seize the Sketch.

I used more of my CTMH Free To Be Me paper and a stencil I cut a while back using my Silhouette.

I used a sponge dauber to add Indian Corn Blue and Sky blue ink over the stencil, rounded the corners and stamped the sentiment using Wet Paint III (PTI). The flowers are die cut and stamped from WPlus9's Fresh Cut Florals.

June 2014 PaperTrey Ink Blog Hop

Blog-hop-logo

I was in a crafty, quiet mood this morning and actually found time to make some projects before I did much else. It was such a great start to the day. Not to say that all you-know-what hasn't broke out since then, but whatever. I remember it fondly.

I'm playing along with this month's Paper Trey Ink Blog Hop. An inspiration photo, sketches, and color palettes were provided. I kind of used all 3 to steer my card, which is based on a card I had made earlier and was still on top of my desk.

Here is my card using PTI's Bubble Talk and Wet Paint III:

And this time I had fun decorating the inside of the card. I used Splat and Bubble Talk.

My card base is Aqua Mist cardstock. I used Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz, and Simply Chartreuse inks along with CTMH's Crystal Blue, Lagoon, Honey, and Slate. I added a few dots from My Mind's Eye to finish it off. Very simple and quick to make!

Card Concept #12 and The Challenge #9

Hello.

The rest of the family is watching TV and I'm stealing away time with a laptop. Yeesh! I may have to hide in another room with it. If any of them see me on it, they will want it. :)

I have another card to share that I made during last week's crafting marathon on my "cheater day" at home with the kids. One of those today would have been nice! But I tackled the grocery store this afternoon while Big Daddy was at home to watch The Piglets and I could shop without them (and therefore spend less $ -- can I get a what-what?!)

Here are two challenges that I combined to inspire my card:

The Card Concept and The Challenge,

I stamped my background stripes using PTI's Super Stripes and CTMH Moonstruck ink instead of using paper pieces, because that's what I pictured with the nautical theme.  The red piece of patterned cardstock is from my CTMH Free To Be Me paper pack that I've been using up. Enjoy is from my PTI Phrase Play die and the sweet little sailboat is from Lawn Fawn's Float My Boat stamp set.

I considered this to be CAS style.

MUSE Challenge #72

Hello! I'm up and at 'em before the kids this morning (YAY!) and want to share one of the cards I made during my relaxing crafty marathon yesterday. =)

I loved the colors and the clean style of this week's MUSE card challenge.

I used my Paper Smooches Reflections stamp set (I'm hooked on it lately!) and CTMH Lagoon ink, 1st and 2nd generation stamping.

I stamped the berries in gold pigment ink and the sentiment in Vintage Sepia VersaFine pigment ink. The sentiment is from PTI's Wet Paint III stamp set and my card base is from CTMH's Free To Be Me paper pack. I went through several pieces of it yesterday making cards and still have a ton left! I think it's multiplying! =) I hope to do some more today before my weekend houseguests arrive.

Anything Goes - Paper Smooches SPARKS

This is an "Anything Goes" week over at the SPARKS blog. And how can you not play along with that? 8-)

I made this card earlier this week, but today we had a "cheater" day at our house! Mommy needed a "day off". I let the kids play on the computer most of the day and I played in my room so I will have plenty of cards to share over the next few days. Daughter was in my room with me and we listened to/watched the daily Bones marathon. It was a relaxing day! They left at 3 to play with their friends on our street and I used the quiet time to work out - a much improved state of mind over yesterday! ha ha. Summer woes are getting to me at times! ;-0

Enough of that - I should share my card now!

Here is my card using Cyber Café and Get Outta Town from Paper Smooches.

I can't claim credit for the clever pairing of the Get Outta Town sentiment with the coffee cups. I saw this over on, (I'm pretty sure), ~amy's~ blog one day and since I'm a coffee NUT, I loved it!

I stamped each mug in different CTMH colors, masking each time to create the cute stack. The fun patterned papers are from Pink Paislee's Hey Kid 6x6 paper pad. I added just a few matching dots and iridescent sequins to finish it off. I sketched the bottom shadow under the cups using a Spectrum Noir marker. Easy peasy!

Retro Sketches #119

Hello!

I've commandeered the laptop this morning before the kids can dominate it! Ha! I have a Peach Cobbler in the oven that is due to the church this morning and then some food pick-up and delivery duty for Big Daddy at his work. It's going to be a busy day! And, I'm not exactly "perky" this morning for some reason. Yikes!

I'm here to share a fun little card I made for this week's Retro Sketches Challenge. I used scraps of paper from my March Simon Says Stamp card kit which was sweet paper from Lawn Fawn. It's so happy and colorful.

After piecing the paper scraps on my card base, I outlined each piece using my CTMH Desert Sand marker. I added a Smoothie colored button from CTMH Mini Medley set and tied it with Lawn Fawn cording. The enamel dots are from My Mind's Eye. (I can't have enough of these! I still love to put them on everything!) The sentiment is stamped from PTI's Keep It Simple: Birthday.

Colour Q #245 - Take Two

Hello - I'm back with another post tonight. I'm having to double up today since I was remiss in my blogly duties over the weekend. Big Daddy was off work (for a change) and we actually caught up on some yardwork. It was rewarding and we were so glad to have it finished. The Boy had a swim party most of the day Saturday and Daughter hogged the laptop while he was gone. =) She was so happy. LOL.

I'm sharing another project I made using Colour Q colors.

This little bag was cut using my CTMH Artiste Cricut cartridge and Smoothie cardstock.

I used paper and accent pieces from Dear Lizzy's 5th and Frolic collection. I used my Artiste cartridge to cut the rolled flower. The pink sparkly gems are CTMH also. I used a lightweight spackle mixed with Honey re-inker and applied it over an *old* journaling stencil I've had shoved under some papers for eons. I sprinkled a little Prisma Glitter over the top before it dried. It turns out with a neat effect. I like it but have only done it twice. GAH. So many cool techniques, so little time! {Plus I get super lazy up in my crafty space at night and I tend to just want to cut paper and stamp. =) Sometimes even the manual die cutter WHICH IS ON MY DESK NEXT TO ME, evades me. It's sad really.}

This one would make a perfect little bag for a gift card and hopefully, I'll remember I have it and put it to good use next time I give one! That tends to be a problem for me. (among other things)

Colour Q #245 -- First Take

Hello--

I missed some of my posty time this weekend. Wow. Trying to find the time to do it that correlates with a time when my kids aren't hogging the laptop is challenging. Sometimes I just pull the "Mom Card" and boot them off, but many times I don't have the energy to go there. I have so many other things to do that I just procrastinate.  Surprise, surprise.

I have two projects I made using Colour Q colors this week and I want to share my card with this post.

I cut a stencil using my CTMH Artbooking Cricut cartridge and then used a watercolor paint technique.

I stamped ink onto my acrylic blocks and then misted it with water. I used a paintbrush to pick that up and brush it over the stencil. I used CTMH colors Pacifica, Pear, Sweet Leaf, and Smoothie. I then stamped the birthday sentiment from PTI's Keep It Simple: Birthday. I used Distress Watercolor cardstock and layered that over my White PTI cardbase. I really talked to myself about keeping it this one layer and NOT adding any dots or sequins. I felt so lost, but I think it works well super CAS. =)

Paper Smooches SPARKS - Picture Perfect Challenge

Hello!

I'm popping in to share a card I made last night after church. I have a few quiet moments left before BOTH children are up for the day and staking their claim on the computer. UGH. I have to kick them off everyday and make them read and play outside! Wow. So different from our childhood!

Here is this week's Picture Perfect Challenge inspiration photo:

I used my Paper Smooches Reflections stamp set and Sentiment Sampler:

I used several of my CTMH ink colors: Tulip, Goldrush, Honey, Pear, Gypsy, and Dutch Blue. I loved how the inspiration photo had the colors coming in from the top corner and wanted to mimic that on my card. I used both the open and solid small circle stamps from the Reflections stamp set and it makes a great confetti look. =) I layered it over a piece of Grey Wool cardstock and drew some hand stitching on with a black gel pen. My card size is 4 1/2" x 4 1/2".

MUSE Challenge #71

Hello on a rainy afternoon! We are confined to the house today. :) Finally got together with our church friends at the pool and were chased inside after a few short hours. However, I was tickled to death that were able to be outside and get to swim as long as we did. Since the forecast doesn't look much better this week, we will take what we get and be grateful for it. :)

I am here to share a card I made last night, before the rainstorms chased Miss Priss and I out of the [upstairs] craft room. Yikes - it's loud up there!

This one was inspired by this week's MUSE Challenge.

Here is the inspiration piece, by Therese Calvrid.

Once I realized how those letters were popped up on the cute card, I wanted to try. I love how it turned out (although sadly I don't think my picture shows it very well. BOOO!)

I used paper from my newly acquired (Thanks Sastor!) Hey You 6x6 pad by Basic Grey. I die cut "thanks" using my CTMH Artbooking Cricut cartridge using the patterned paper. I then cut it again (exactly the same) 3 more times using Aqua Mist cardstock, the same color as the card base. I tried to get an angle on my photo which allowed the letter layers to show, but they didn't as well as I wanted.

I trimmed a strip of Rasberry Fizz cardstock and trimmed the edge using pinking sheers for my border. I then just added a few aqua colored dots from My Mind's Eye and Darice iridescent sequins. Easy as pie!

Color Q #244

Hello!

I'm popping in before bed tonight to share a quick card. This one was quick because I based it off of a card of my own (that was published in Card Creations for Him) last year. I was out of town for most of the weekend and super busy the day I got back so I had to get some crafty time in today - mojo or not! So, that led to me using a previous card layout to make things simple and get the ball rolling. =)

I used Color Q colors and some fun (FUN!) Amy Butler paper that I've had in my stash for a coon's age that is made by K & Co. The botanical print had the Olive, orange, and sky blue shades in it.

I used the Tim Holtz Bubble embossing folder and inked the edges with a sponge and CTMH Desert Sand ink. I cut the paper strips and then tore the top and bottom edges before adhering to the card base. The paper label was die cut using my CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge and I stamped the border and sentiment from PTI's Boutique Borders: Thanks mini stamp set. I stamped the borders in Desert Sand ink and the sentiment in Outdoor Denim. I added the twine bow and resin flower leftover from a CTMH WOTG kit.  Super easy and fast!

I love how the seemingly masculine colors turned  feminine with the flowers and print and swirly border stamp. It was fun to change it up from my initial idea of all boy.

CAS(E) this Sketch #78 and SPARKS Anything Goes

Hello!

Back with another quick card I made earlier this week. I'm about to race back up to my crafty space to "Play" and finish up the reorganization/arranging I started yesterday. I decided to swap my space with a guest room we have upstairs and moved a lot of furniture (with my daughter's help) then kinda talked myself out of it last night after Big Daddy got home. Giggle. Even now when I think about it, I go back & forth still about it! My idea was to move it all, try it a few days, and see which I prefer. Yikes. I know. A lot of work. Sooo....we shall see. Sometimes it all depends on what kind of mood I'm in! :) Either way, I've got some clean up left to take care of this morning, but I will try to squeeze in some play in the meantime.

This weeks SPARKS challenge for Paper Smooches is "Anything Goes". I paired this with the sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch.

Here is my card using Paper Smooches Reflections stamp set:

I stamped the leaves in CTMH New England Ivy ink, the flowers in PTI's Hibiscus Burst ink, and the little circles in CTMH Sunset ink. The sentiment is a combination of Scripty Sayings and Sentiment Sampler. The jute twine is May Arts. (I put this on nearly everything I make! Eeks.)

Thanks so much for stopping by - off to finish cleaning up my room! =)

Mandy

Freshly Sketch #138 - The Cat's Meow

I love this card! If I do say so myself. I've had this stamp set for a while but have not inked it up much at all. And now it's retired. BOOO. I'm such a kitty-cat person I had to have it. And now I've made this card for my uncle to use when mailing some of the kids school pictures out. He thinks my "love" for the kitty cats and the fact that they come in and out of my "big, fine house" is hilarious. LOL. So I have to poke at him a little and make him a card with a big cat on the front of it. ; )

I used the sketch from over at Freshly Made:

Here is my lil' sweet kitty:

I layered my background with papers from my Crate Paper "The Pier" 6x6 pad and my CTMH Skylark paper kit. The tab is from a scrap of Goldrush cardstock that was laying out on my desk. I stamped the kitty from CTMH's Cozy Cat stamp set (retired) and colored him up with my Spectrum Noir markers. He's so sweet. You can tell that I am a cat lover. :)
