CASual Friday #124

Hello!

I feel like it has been so long since my last post! I've spent very little 'crafty' time in the last few weeks due to the holiday craziness. I know I'm not the only one -- but, then again, I couldn't help but be impressed and wowed by the continued blog posts of many of the blogs I love to follow. I was tickled because I had something to peruse on my phone at night before falling to sleep, but all I could think was "How in the world is she keeping up with that?!". :)

I did spend some time in my crafty room trying out some new projects that were Christmas gifts. I had a lot of fun decorating these coffee mugs. My super crafty sister helped me with execution ideas after I told her what I wanted to make. I enjoyed it so much, I made more than I had originally planned. These were all "embellished" with an oil-based Sharpie, using a vinyl Silhouette-cut stencil. (We have Pinspiration to thank for getting the ball rolling!)

Here are some of my favorites: (Forgive me the unplanned photos! These were taken hastily to shoot to above-mentioned sister.)

I had a lot of fun and used a white marker on all projects. It showed up really well on black mugs, also. (not pictured) Each one was filled with a clear bag of "Puppy Chow" all tied up with a pretty red bow! It looked so cute. And, I'm happy to report that they went over well. :) Always the best part.

Now I've babbled long enough -- I did play in my room for a few hours on ____ oh the days are a blur! It was a few days ago. (I'll have to explain our Christmas debacle in another post.) Long story short, I made a few cards for some challenges -- trying to get the crafty mojo rolling again. I got several new goodies for Christmas (Thanks Big Daddy!) and usually a new goodie or two is enough to give the crafty side of my brain new life, but I'm still not quite there yet. Probably not until we get back to our normal routine, I'm afraid.

This fun little card is for CASual Friday's New Years challenge! I don't usually make these cards just because I don't send them out, but I wanted to try something fun and new.

I used some gold and silver embossing powders on Rasberry Fizz (PTI) cardstock. The border embossed in silver is from PTI's Boutique Borders: Thanks mini stamp set. I stamped 2014 in gold powder from my CTMH Old World Alphabet. (Love that font, but forget to use it.) I stamped celebrate in small letters underneath using Rasberry Fizz ink from the PTI Live Love Life stamp set. It's all matted in gray cardstock and adhered to a white card base. Super easy and quick.

Colour Q #219 and PS - Anything Goes

A frosty hello. BRRRR. It's cold here today -- supposed to warm up to the 60s by late this week and I, for one, can not wait. Although I will trade any of it for sunshine. Yeesh. Just one glance out the window makes me want to sleep! Hee hee.

I was so busy and rushed last week, running errands what felt like all day every day! (It drives me crazy sometimes. I know it's Christmas making it worse than normal.)

Yesterday I made this card for my uncle. I based it off of one I'd made before and loved, but I wanted to go with more masculine colors. It's hard to imagine my big, gruff (Favorite) uncle opening a card with pink lace ribbon on it. Ha. Although, I might have got a kick out of that. :) (We love to aggravate in this family.)

I went with the Colour Q colors for inspiration.



I am also linking up to this week's Paper Smooches Anything Goes SPARKS challenge since I used my Cyber Café stamp set. (Uncle is a coffee lover, too.)


Here is my quick little card:

 

I layered a piece of Olive DP from my CTMH Victory kit (love this set and I'm still hoarding pieces of it!) I stamped the coffee mugs on DP from a Glitz Designs Sunshine In My Soul 6x6 pad, trimmed them out and layered on with foam tape. I did stamp the plates and steam prior to taping down the mugs. The sentiment from Sentiment Sampler was stamped on each mug (masking) prior to taping, as well. I rounded a corner and tied on the brown twine before I taped the cardstock panel onto the card base. -- just a fun little card!

Freshly Made #115

Hello!

I always like the sketches over at Freshly Made, but am the worst about not getting to it in time to play along. Sometimes I even play along, but still miss the "sharing" linky deadline. SO...today I made one first thing and I'm getting it posted PRONTO! :)

 

I love the clean look -- I put mine together with a couple of patterned papers from my 6x6 Basic Grey Persimmon pad and my CTMH Be Still stamp. I also broke the seal on my new Lacey Circles dies from Spellbinders.

 

 

I think the finishing touch was the Bronze Shimmer Tape (CTMH). I love how the browns work together on this one with the beautiful blue patterned piece. I plan for this card to go in a gift set I'm making Big Daddy's Grannie for Christmas. (I need to get busy. I'm over planning my time again -- the magic of Christmas!)

Runway Inspired Challenge #49

Hello!

I'm back to share another card I've made with some new products I got for a "steal". (The only way I can shop!) I thought this embossing folder from Lifestyle Crafts was so fun:

 

The bottom folder inspired me to layer and paper piece. And, lucky for me, the challenge over at Runway Inspired Challenge this week spoke to me in the same way. It seemed the perfect fit to me. 8-)

 



 

Here is what I came up with:

 

 

I first embossed my smaller white cardstock panel. I then chose my colored cardstock and embossed each color using the same folder, then trimming different pieces and adhering them over the same shape using a glue pen. I double-matted the accent panel making the bottom mat larger, offsetting, and rounding a corner. The sentiment panel was die cut using my Art Philosophy cartridge and stamped with my CTMH Holiday Cheer stamp set. I trimmed a black cardstock strip, adhered some Silver Shimmer Tape, then snipped the edges banner-style. Wrapped a little black twine (inspired by the models sash at her waist) and called it a day after I added some sequined bling. This one was fun, even though it took me a while to get it to look the way I wanted! I'm working on my "crafty patience". It's a process.

Colour Q #218 and Retro Sketches #92

Good evening!

I'm popping in to share one of the cards I made today after getting home from a little Christmas shopping. I only had a couple of hours to spare before The Piglets turned the day to chaos so, of course, I spent that time getting crafty and watching a DVR'd Lifetime Cheesy Christmas Movie. But that probably goes without saying.

I combined this week's LERVELY Colour Q colors with the Retro Sketch.



I used various papers to pull the colors I wanted and my PTI Mistletoe and Holly stamp set. Earlier this week I decided it wasn't getting enough attention. Also, today while out -- ahem -- Christmas shopping, I snagged the Spellbinders Lacey Circles nesting dies on sale at JoAnn's. I'm not after many (if any) of the nesting dies because of my Cricut and Art Philosophy and Artiste cartridges, but the Lacey Circles have been calling to me lately. So I've been surreptitiously keeping my eyes peeled for them. So, if you view many of my posts, you may get sick of seeing this shape! Just a fair warning.

 

I stamped the mistletoe in PTI's Simply Chartreuse and the berries in CTMH's Tulip, the sentiment using Black VersaFine pigment ink by Tsukineko.

Paper Smooches SPARKS -- Anything Goes Week

It's "Anything Goes" week over at Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge blog and it couldn't have worked out any better for me. Hee hee hee. I had just received a new embossing folder in the mail (compliments of scrapbooksteals.com) and had a cool idea to use it along with my newest Paper Smooches stamp set Party Posse.

 

So here is what I came up with, hee hee hee....

 

 

 

I let my "little" dinosaur shout his Huge Birthday Wishes using the oversized caption bubble. I'm getting way too nerdy with this stuff. I've got to back 'er down a notch -- I'm embarrassing myself!  The dinosaur is paper pieced using some papers from My Mind's Eye On The Bright Side 6x6 pad and Crate Paper's StoryTeller 6x6 paper pad. That was a lot of cutting (for me), probably not for your average crafter. I'm just a little lazy like that -- but trying to branch out! I promise! It's too cute anyway. I couldn't get happy with any papers, so opted to stay with the solid mats and a simpler design.

Monday Mood Board #24

I was able to grab some crafty time this past weekend after returning from our travels. And, oh my stars and three little chickens, I may be super crafty all winter as I think I'm about ready to hibernate! (I should get through a lot of reading, as well.) We are having weird weather here in TN and it is GLOOMY as all get-out. Yikes. I am dragging my can and everything else I own. I'm totally blaming it on the clouds. I just don't fare well with all the seasonal gloom and doom -- I need the sun!

Here is the inspiration photo from WPlus9's Monday Mood Board. I loved it so much I just had to join in.

 

I let the flowers inspire me to pick up the floral paper from my Basic Grey 6x6 pad of 25th and Pine. I have loved that pattern and been hoarding it for something special. I love how it all turned out to be kind of "Victorian" with my little carolers and that floral print. I also added some Desert Sand ink using a sponge for distressing.

 

 

 

Isn't that paper yummy?  8-)   [That's my nerd smiley face.] I cut a circle tag similar to the photo, because I liked that change. I usually opt for the traditional shaped tags. I stamped the carolers in Hollyhock ink to go along with the pink flowers in the paper. The sentiment is stamped using Outdoor Denim ink matching the paper as well. It was a little plain, so I added strips of my new CTMH Sparkle & Shine Washi Tape. I just stick it on all my projects willy-nilly these days. Ha! It's out on my desk and right there -- it's hard to ignore -- I can't help it!

 

Even with the ink distressing on the tag, it was lacking a little something. So I took a new embossing folder that was laying on my desk (See the pattern in my craftiness? See it - stick it on a project.) and sponged ink onto the raised side of the folder, then pressed my paper against it to very lightly stamp the background pattern onto my tag. I REALLY liked the effect - it wasn't as prominent as it would have been had that thick PTI cardstock been embossed.
