Colour Q #217

Hello -- I hope you are having a wonderful Holiday season thus far! I managed to have a little shopping time with my sister today - the most fun and a real rarity seeing as we live three hours apart and have 5 children ages 9 and under between the two of us. I won't bore you with the details of how it worked out but suffice it to say, it was a good day! :)

Last night, even knowing I needed to go to sleep, I snuck off to my crafty space to make a card using the Colour Q colors. Hee hee. I wanted to monkey around with my PTI Round Repeats stamp set.

I played around with a few variations before I ended with this one. I'm not in love with it, but it was the best version and I like how it has a somewhat "folksy" feel to it. Different for me, so that was the fun part.

 

I used PTI's Simply Chartreuse along with CTMH Cocoa, Sunset, and Crystal Blue. The sentiment is stamped from CTMH's Card Chatter - Birthday. I matted the panel in a matching orange cardstock (scraps of another company) and used a Bazzill green for the card base. It all came together well and I was pleased with how my colors worked out. (Love to use up scraps!)

Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge

I was so "proud" of this card I made for the latest Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge. Ha ha. But I snapped the photos really quickly before we left town, brought my memory card and laptop with me so I could get all bloggy in my downtime while the MILLION children run amok. And, now I'm disappointed in how my photo turned out! My colors don't show up very well. Drat! Figures, right? I just THOUGHT I was prepared. :) .... "story of my life...."

Here is the Picture Perfect photo challenge for SPARKS:

 

I drew my inspiration from the colors, balloons, beach and the little romantic couple. (Except my couple is the sweet little hamsters. Squee!)

 

 

I stamped the little hamsters, colored them and cut them out, layered up on foam tape over scrap papers I used to be my beach and ocean. It's all matted on a piece of B&T paper from my CTMH Footloose paper kit. I die-cut the hearts using my Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge and secured some with adhesive and some with foam tape for dimension. I then drew the strings by hand. I sponged the sky using Sunflower, Goldrush, and a little Cotton Candy CTMH dye inks. I stamped the sentiment from the Sentiment Sampler set and the hamsters are from Party Possee. Sorry for the sub-par photo.     :( ...sniffle...

PPA #180

Hello there!

I'm SUPER tired tonight -- after a night with very little rest and then up very early to attend a Field Trip with The Princess and her 4th grade class, I really could have used a nap this afternoon! Of course, I didn't get one. But, I'm hoping to share a card, take care of one more computer "errand" and hop off to bed. Another episode of a favorite new program is coming on in 10 min and Big Daddy is ready to watch it with me. He's managed to watch 8 episodes in the past 2 days and he's all caught up with me. Ha. (I've been on him for weeks to join me.)

This card is another for a gift set I've made using my CTMH "A Chocolate Affair" stamp set. I bought that stamp JUST to make gift sets. This time I used the sketch over at Pals Paper Arts.

 

I used more of my 6x6 My Mind's Eye Sweet Girl pad. It's pretty much gone now. Only a few scraps left! I thought the little strip with the cherries was perfect behind the sundae with the cherry on top. I added the hand-drawn stitching, pink sequins, and pink twine to match the other cards in my set. They've all used these same papers and a pastel card base, all 4.5" square. They've turned out quite nice. I'm thinking I want to do more of these "gifts" for this Christmas! I like the coordination (not what I usually do.)

Colour Q #216 and CAS(E) this Sketch #55

Hello! I'm popping in to share another card I made last week during my "day off"! I'd had such a busy week, I declared Friday a crafty only day! (well, with the obvious exceptions of laundry and dishes and cooking supper) -- but no cleaning, errands, or volunteering!

This card combines the colors from this week's Colour Q (LOVE IT) and CAS(E) this Sketch. It's still fall and fun, even though it feels way to wintry around here! (for us, for this time of year)



Here is my card using very few elements: a woodgrain impression plate (PTI), paper from Basic Grey's Persimmon, and a wood veneer leaf from CTMH's Arbor Shapes.

 



I repeatedly stamped the sentiment from CTMH's Perfect Fit - Thanksgiving on a strip of cardstock and trimmed the ends into a banner. Lastly, just added a couple of sequins (Studio Calico) and that was it!

Freshly Made Sketches #113

Hello!
I'm settling in to do some computer work while the Piglets play in the den this afternoon and thought I'd pop in to quickly share a card I made last night. This one is using the Freshly Made Sketch.

Here is my simple card using holly from the PTI Mistletoe and Holly stamp set, red patterned paper (which I LOVE) from a 6x6 pad of My Mind's Eye paper, and a Hero Arts sentiment. The green paper is just some that I had left over from a K& Co set from eons ago. (Peppermint Twist, I believe it is called.)

 

I'm totally into Rustic and love all the papers with a wood pattern to them. Sometimes if I don't have paper like I want, then I stamp or emboss a wood pattern. I can't seem to get enough!

Paper Smooches Cool Shades Challenge

I'm here with a quick post for a fun little card I recently made. I had fun experimenting with different elements and layering papers, which I don't usually do.

Here is the color story for this week's challenge over at Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge:



These colors were way happy and bright and made me think birthday!

Here is my card using the Party Posse stamp set. SO adorable. And, I'm a sucker for cats, soooo......

 

I tinkered with a couple of different paper pads. Don't be too impressed -- it's, literally, what was out on my desk! I layered it and monkeyed around until I liked how it looked. My favorite part is the sweet little kitty (did I mention I'm a cat person?) stamped on a scrap of denim! And, yes, I have a cut up pair of old blue jeans in my room. They were in such a sad state that I decided they were worth more to me cut up, than they were to anyone else whole.

 

 I stamped Miss Kitty in Black StazOn ink and embellished her little necklace and nose with teeny, tiny adhesive rhinestones. I stamped the birthday hat with more patterned paper, trimmed it and glued it over the denim. I used the aqua colored dots to anchor my sentiment banners and then, of course, I needed a few more to tie it all together.

Paper Smooches and Stripes

Hello there!

I'm popping in tonight to share a couple of cards I made recently inspired by the Paper Smooches SPARKS stripes challenge. I had a busy week that week and never found the time to share them. So, I'm a day late and a dollar short - but better late than never, right?

Here is the inspiration photo:

The challenge was to use stripes anywhere on your project.

For my first card, I wanted to make a "Christmas Tree" form of coffee mugs, from my Cyber Café set. I selected papers from my 6x6 pad of Basic Grey's 25th & Pine and a one or two from CTMH's Mistletoe. I stamped and trimmed each mug then layered them on Colonial White Cardstock.

 

I used a Simon Says Stamp banner die and the sentiment from Sentiment Sampler stamp set. The larger mugs on the bottom were solid (silhouette) stamps, but to keep my look uniform and all stripey, I stamped them on the back of my patterned paper. After trimming, I flipped them over and outlined the images with a Black Zig pen to make these mugs match my others. It also was a bonus that it made all the mugs turn the same direction (handle on the same side). I'm pretty particular like that. I really wanted to have steam coming from each cup to go along with my "warm thoughts" sentiment, but it was just too much. Couldn't get it to look right. Darn it!

 

My second card is one of my favorites. I have a cute stripey mug and fun colors. I think the colors are my favorite part. It looks so fun and cheerful and feminine.

 

 

 

I love how the lace softened the whole piece. It's just a fun little contrast, I think.
